About the event

In the soft glow of a July evening, we gathered once again for our second community screening under the warm umbrella of Local Threads. This time, our setting was the cozy and eclectic Mystery Eatery, known then as Zorko, a place soon to join hands in supporting the spirit of recurring events and reflection that Threads nurtures.

The screen lit up with Black Mirror’s haunting episode, “Nosedive”, a mirror too close for comfort. As the pastel-perfect world of social ratings unfolded before us, silence fell, thick with questions. What does it mean to curate one’s life? To trade authenticity for approval?

When the credits rolled, we stayed. Eyes wide, minds buzzing, hearts unsettled. Over chai and quiet laughter, the discussion bloomed, raw, spirited, thoughtful. We spoke of technology, of social media, of the invisible metrics that shape our worth. We unspooled the threads of modern existence, gently, together.

This evening wasn’t just a screening, it was a pause. A shared breath. A moment of looking inward, through the darkened lens of fiction, to better understand the truth of our world.
