Community Fund

Local Threads Collective is shaped by the people who participate in it. All our decisions and expenses are made with the community’s well-being at the center, never for anyone’s personal profit or recognition. Because we value accountability to everyone who shares this space, whether you’re hosting, helping, joining in, or just listening, we created the Community Fund as a transparent way to manage and share our finances.

🔶 Overall Balance Sheet

The Community Fund supports all our monthly operational costs. Every contribution (earlier called a registration fee) goes directly into this shared fund.

The tables below show our contributions and expenses from our very first event in October 2023 to today. Data is updated manually through our Google Sheets balance sheet, so please allow up to 48 hours for the latest entries to appear.

Table 1 outlines the overall summary of how much contributions, expenses have happened so far and how much amount is present in the community fund.

  • Curated Events – The event will have a facilitator with a defined purpose and format of the event. Eg. Clothes Swaps, Music Listening Sessions, Art based workshops, Discussion Circles.
  • Offline Hours – A weekly meetup to pause our screens, read, create, loiter and engage with the community.
  • Internal Events – Events or meetings which are only for the internal volunteers.
  • Admin Costs – Costs such as hosting this website that are not tied to a particular event.

Table 2 outlines the balance left after each event.

🔶 Contributions to the Fund

Table 3 presents the contributions made by community members. Each person who contributes will receive a unique Contributor ID, enabling everyone to track their amounts transparently while ensuring privacy.

Please Note: We began with the community fund idea in October 2025. Prior to October 2025, all amounts coming via registrations for curated events were clubbed together in the balance sheet under ID C0000.

🔶 Operational Expenses

Table 4 presents the operational costs for each event such as venue costs, facilitator costs, materials, refreshments, ads, design tools, adhoc emergency costs.

🔶 Support us if you can!

Communities grow when people are able to bring themselves to a space with ease, contribute whatever they can and everyone benefits. As kids, we would pool whatever we had in our pockets, ₹1 ₹2rs ₹5, or nothing at all to buy a ball to play cricket everyday. The idea wasn’t about who owns the ball and who pays how much, it’s about everyone gets to play. That spirit is what we carry into Local Threads.

In our current city life, buying a ticket pays for “your” seat. Here, any contribution you make, big or small, supports everyone, including you in our space. Starting October 2025, every event will have a ₹1–₹500 sliding contribution. People contribute what feels comfortable for them, and no one is ever turned away.
