Offline Hours
We meet in a garden to pause our screens — read, create and loiter in nature for two hours — then share a discussion or a fun activity together.
Local Threads is a community-driven collective resisting individualism and urban loneliness — through art, leisure, swap meets and honest conversation. Each thread is you and me, woven into the fabric of society.
No upcoming events scheduled right now — new gatherings drop regularly. Follow us on Instagram to hear about them first.
Follow on InstagramStarted in September 2023 in the ever-hustling suburbs of Mumbai, Local Threads offers a safe space for people to come together and address individualism by prioritising sharing, leisure, creativity, dialogue and collective growth.
Each “Thread” is you and me, and together we weave into the fabric of society. We hope to counter the isolation of urban life by nurturing the connections around us — locally — creating memories of warmth and solidarity.
Swaps, a Give & Share network, and a transparent Community Fund — abundance built by pooling what we have.
A non-judgmental, welcoming space for people of every identity and background.
Rotating roles, shared decisions, and no one above anyone else.
Small, intimate gatherings of 10–15 people in our own neighbourhoods.
We meet every Saturday for Offline Hours, and once a month for a curated event — one of these five kinds.
We meet in a garden to pause our screens — read, create and loiter in nature for two hours — then share a discussion or a fun activity together.
Exchange clothes, books, accessories, decor and stationery — extending the life of things, discovering them anew, and minimising waste.
Movie screenings and music listening sessions where we watch, listen and reflect together.
Explore ourselves through writing, colour, crafts, playing music, dance and drama.
Relaxing meetups — picnics, potlucks, games, cycling and walks — for a peaceful break.
Collective conversations on what shapes us — mental health, well-being, inclusivity, climate change and human rights.
Start with an Offline Hour or a curated event. Everyone is welcome — no one is ever turned away.
Help design and lead the gatherings you love, as part of a supportive, non-hierarchical team.
Pass on what you no longer need and find what you’re looking for — no buying or selling, just sharing.
Contribute whatever feels comfortable to our transparent Community Fund — it supports everyone, including you.
We strive to create an accepting space for all our community members. Our participant, facilitator and volunteer guidelines protect everyone who shares it, and we hold a zero-tolerance policy for harassment, discrimination or bullying.
We use gender-inclusive language, welcome every background and identity, and stay open to changing our minds together.
You’re in the right place. Say hello, drop by a gathering, or lend your hands to the collective.
