The Community Fund
Local Threads is shaped by the people who participate in it. Every decision and expense is made with the community’s well-being at the centre — never for personal profit or recognition. The Community Fund is how we manage and share our finances openly.
🔶 Overall balance sheet
The Community Fund supports all our monthly operational costs. Every contribution (earlier called a registration fee) goes directly into this shared fund.
The tables below show our contributions and expenses from our very first event in October 2023 to today. Data is updated manually through our Google Sheets balance sheet, so please allow up to 48 hours for the latest entries to appear.
- Curated Events — a facilitated event with a defined purpose and format, e.g. clothes swaps, music listening sessions, art workshops, discussion circles.
- Offline Hours — a weekly meetup to pause our screens, read, create, loiter and engage with the community.
- Internal Events — events or meetings only for internal volunteers.
- Admin Costs — costs such as hosting this website that aren’t tied to a particular event.
Pulled live from our balance sheet — the full tables are below.
Please note: We began the Community Fund idea in October 2025. Prior to that, all amounts from registrations for curated events were clubbed together under the ID C0000.
🔶 Support us, if you can
“As kids, we’d pool whatever we had — ₹1, ₹2, ₹5, or nothing at all — to buy a ball and play cricket every day. It was never about who owns the ball or who pays how much. It’s about everyone getting to play. That spirit is what we carry into Local Threads.”
In city life, buying a ticket pays for “your” seat. Here, any contribution you make — big or small — supports everyone, including you. From October 2025, every event has a ₹1–₹500 sliding contribution. People give what feels comfortable, and no one is ever turned away.
