About Us
Who we are
Local Threads is a community-driven collective started in September 2023. Our initiatives are dedicated to resisting individualism and addressing urban loneliness through building local communities to play, rest, eat, discuss, and chill in the ever-hustling suburbs of Mumbai.
We aim to build meaningful connections through shared experiences in safe spaces. We hope to create social traditions that prioritise sharing, supporting collective growth where we also co-create memories of warmth and solidarity.
What we do
We structure our community events around the following Core themes
Events like ‘Offline Hours’, a weekly meetup where we take a break from our screens to read, create, and connect. Also leisurely meetups, board games, cycling, doodling, city walks that can offer us rest and relaxation.
Facilitating dialogue through various art forms like music listening, movie screenings, dance workshops, journalling, letter writing, painting, and photography, encouraging artistic expression.
Holding discussions surrounding climate change, clothes swaps, nature informational trails, zero waste lifestyles, and exploring more sustainable alternatives.
Exploring our emotions, mental health, urban living standards and social issues through workshops, documentaries and group discussions.
Types of events
At present, based on the themes mentioned above we host three types of events
The event will have a facilitator (Internal or External) with a defined purpose and format of the event.
